Technological Breakthroughs Reshaping the LED Display Industry Landscape

The LED display industry is experiencing significant technological advancements. Recently, a company in the industry announced the successful mass production of its PWM+PAM hybrid drive chip. This innovative chip can adjust the driving current of each LED lamp on the display in real-time for every frame of the image based on pulse width modulation technology. It features the "five highs and two lows" characteristics: high peak brightness, high dynamic range, high grayscale, high refresh rate, high color accuracy, low power consumption, and low temperature rise. This breakthrough greatly enhances the display performance of LED screens, enabling precise image control and ultimate color reproduction.
In the field of Micro LED technology, Chinese manufacturers have made remarkable progress. A number of enterprises are accelerating the expansion of MIP (Mini LED In Package) production capacity. It is expected that China's MIP production capacity will reach 50-70 billion units per month by 2025, and plans to exceed 200 billion units per month by 2026. This will enable Chinese suppliers to take a global leading position in cost-effective and high-performance MIP solutions for p0.9-p1.2 commercial displays.

AI Integration: Driving LED Displays Towards Smart Interactive Terminals

Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly critical role in the LED display industry. Leading enterprises in the industry are integrating AI technology into their products and solutions. Some companies have developed AI-driven solutions, such as AI virtual digital humans, which integrate voice recognition and natural language processing technologies to enable real-time interaction and content explanation in scenarios like retail and cultural tourism. The AI digital fitting solution can quickly realize virtual fitting through human body images, effectively improving retail conversion rates.
Another enterprise has elevated its "LED+AI" business to the group's top strategic level. Based on the HarmonyOS system, the company independently developed the AISOC system and jointly established a Traditional Culture Large Model Research Institute with a university to develop a multimodal large model. This technology provides support for AI edge applications, aiming to achieve deep integration of LED display and AI, making display products not only "visible" but also "capable of thinking and interacting".

Market Expansion and Innovation in Application Scenarios

The LED display market continues to expand, with emerging application scenarios constantly emerging. Recently, a company in the industry announced the expansion of its popular direct display product line and the launch of an ultra-thin series. This ultra-thin, narrow-bezel designed fine-pitch Micro LED video wall is suitable for curved and space-constrained scenarios, including control rooms, broadcast studios, virtual production, extended reality (XR), simulation, and training.
In the outdoor display segment, an LED display solution manufacturer recently received a visit from a prominent business representative from Bangladesh. During the inspection of the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) production workshop and LED display assembly workshop, the representative showed great interest in die-cast aluminum outdoor LED displays and officially confirmed an order for 500 square meters of such displays to meet the demand for upcoming commercial and municipal display projects in Bangladesh. This cooperation confirms the growing demand for high-quality outdoor LED displays in the international market.
In the field of virtual production, the world's largest single-unit LED virtual studio, jointly built by an industry enterprise and a media company, has officially been unveiled. The studio adopts a 270-degree circular screen design with a diameter of 50 meters and a height of 12 meters. The total area of the single-unit studio reaches 5,000 square meters, and the total screen area is approximately 1,700 square meters. This project fully demonstrates the great potential of LED displays in revolutionizing the film and television production industry.
As technological innovation and market expansion continue to advance, the LED display industry is bringing more surprises and changes to various application fields.
